Cricket
Played in over 150 different countries, cricket has a long history of game regulation dating back to mid-17th century England.
It is recognized as England’s national game and the sport is still very popular today. It is believed that cricket could become one of the world sports of the future.
This site does not just focus on a single aspect of cricket but offers learners a variety of perspectives about the sport, its background and history.
Cricket history
Aside from cricket, cricket history has also given some unreal examples of inspiration and popularity. Cricket was a passion for the pen of English poet John Donne ten years before the game itself.
Alfred Tennyson wrote a poem entitled “Cricket” in 1817, which consisted of one long line that also rhymed with “Dorty” and “Horty”. The resulting words are “Donny Dori” or as we know them today “Don Bradman”.
Although the game has its roots in England, it is an international game with players from all over the world participating. The first international cricket match was between Canada and the United States and took place in 1838 at St. George’s Ground in New York. Cricket became a sport then played by both gentlemen and those of the lower classes. In 1839 it was decided to use two wooden wickets to curb gambling on the outcome of the games and to ensure the games were fair.
Cricket Laws
The rules of cricket are given before a game to help players play the game properly. The following cricket rules and laws relate to when our school cricket play progresses in scales ie H. International, Twenty/O Twenty, One-Day Cricket and Test Matches. .The following laws are broken in school cricket:
1. The bowler must deliver the ball, palm down, from his bowling hand to the batsman.
2. If a batsman is hit by a ball he must not run with it lest he be sent off. He must then leave the field or be dismissed leg before wicket.
3. A bowler must not damage the wicket with his bowling arm after throwing the ball to avoid the ball being called a no-ball unless struck by a fielder.
4. If a fielder catches, stumbles or shoves the batsman and he falls over, his wickets are immediately removed from that sight. .
5. No batsman will receive LBW until the ball is handed to him.
6. In fielding, a player must not touch the batsman’s bat or body, even if he does so inadvertently by stepping on a line drawn in front of the wicket.
7. The wicket-keeper must do nothing which would lead to this

The IPL is the world’s most popular celebrity-owned league. Although it’s hard to believe, Pepsi has given Cricket a shot in their upcoming 40-team IPL. They swear by men and women.
The ICC U19 Cricket World Cup, which began in 1999, has been held every two years since 2009.
However, open global cricket competitions are few and far between. One of the most widespread global tournaments open to all nations is the Fabe World Cup, Cricket All Stars Series and ICC Champions League Twenty20, all of which have global power in this arena, as well as an All Stars Series made up of successful Teams from all over the world is made up of the world playing in different countries pre-selected by the captains of those teams.
